A triple-layer lemon sponge with homemade lemon curd and lemon buttercream, finished with pearls and the couple’s own flowers. Around it: fruit cake, a vegan and gluten-free lemon cake, rocky road, Malteser tiffin, cornflake and Biscoff brownies and chocolate orange stuffed cookies.
Royle Forest, near Burton
Not a sponge in sight: a stacked cookie pie “cake”. The bottom pie was filled with chocolate spread, brownies and Oreos; the top with white chocolate, mini cookies and cornflake tart. Plus trays of brownies, brought out later in the day because of the heat.
